We Have a Car

Some stuff has changed, let me tell you.  Cynthia pushed really hard for a week and her ankle just kept getting worse and worse.  She broke her ankle when she was ten and it has never been the same.  We hiked further than we should have.  She limped along every day and I felt terrible.  Finally, she woke up and told me that she couldn’t do it anymore and we needed to find a different solution.  So we found one.  Cynthia’s dad had a car that he wanted to give us.  We rented a car, drove to Florida, and picked up the car.  Now Cynthia’s driving and I’m hiking.  We’re still figuring out what this is going to look like.  It’s pretty different.  And the cost of the car is really going to change things.  We have some math to work out and then we’ll let you know how different this trip might look.  Thank you to everyone who has helped us along the way so far.  We are deeply indebted to all of you.

Hi, We saw your article in a local paper here in Oregon before you left. I have been rooting for you. I am so sorry about the ankle. I know that has to be so devastating for you Cynthia. Did the training you did before you left give you any indication this would be an issue? How far did you walk each day to train? You must be walking alot further every day now.

Hey Naomi! Our training was indeed intense but just like running a marathon, you don’t really know what it’s like until you’re in the midst of it. Thanks for the encouragement.

Everything happens for a reason. There is something good in the recent turn of events. At the least Cynthia’s ankle is happy!
What are the underlying goals you had in mind for this journey? Maybe you can still pull a good number of them off.
    Ganbatte!

Hello Pyar, Cynthia and Jack. We received your note of thanks this week. Thank you. So happy to hear that the three of you are enjoying the book. Have been praying really hard for your health during these “extreme” days of heat.
